Videography
Videography
A professional and stylish wedding video will keep your wedding day memories alive and allow you to enjoy the day again and again.
Capturing your day.
Done tastefully, a wedding videographer can capture moments of your wedding day that your wedding photographs can’t. A wedding video is also an amazing keepsake to pass onto your children one day. Or give it to friends and family who couldn’t be there on the day.
Finding a Wedding Videographer
As always, good research will reap rewards. Search through bridal magazines, online wedding directories and ask for personal recommendations from friends and relatives.
Video style
Always ask to see a wedding videographer’s footage reel. Imagine yourself as the brides and grooms you’re seeing on screen and see if the style of the footage fits your wedding day – and your own personal style. Documentary style wedding videos are popular because they’re able to capture the overall story of your day – from your getting ready to your bridal waltz. The other popular and effective wedding videography style is “footage and editing”, which involves a montage of special wedding day moments backed to music. Minimal editing, or “editing in camera”, doesn’t have the same storyline of a documentary style wedding video but it will serve to record your wedding day events and usually comes with a lower price tag.
Questions to ask
Always ask for the total package and price list at your initial meeting so you know exactly what costs are involved. You also need to have a real sense of what your wedding video will look like so ask to view a completed DVD of another couple’s wedding. Wedding videographers often work side-by-side with wedding photographers to ensure every aspect of your wedding is covered, so it’s a good idea to ask your wedding videographer if he or she works in a team. It’s also a wise move to seek out a wedding videographer who has worked at your ceremony or reception venue previously – it’s not mandatory, but knowing the venue helps bring better results. Ask your venue for their recommended list to find a reputable wedding videographer.
On the day
Don’t think you have to perform for the camera. Just be yourself and the wedding videographer will do the rest. And remember, anything you missed on the day will be recorded!
